Nicole's First Trip (Perth) - Part 2

Day 2: A Day Trip to Margaret River

Before embarking on a 5hr road trip to Margaret River, we strolled into a 'happening-looking' cafe, Zekka, for breakfast. It's located along King Street and houses a small cafe and a boutique.

An alley leading towards the cafe is littered with installation art and its sidewalls are painted with whimsical-looking murals.

The place isn't very big - the concrete floors give it a bit of a warehouse feel but it's not at all cold or uninviting, more of a peaceful escape.

Verdict: Cool arty decor & off the beaten track. Seriously good coffee. Recommended.

After what seemed like eternity, we finally reached one of the vineyards- Cullen. The whole journey took a little less than the estimated 5 hrs. Thank God Nicole slept through for most part of the journey... think it's the droning of the engines that made it conducive for her to sleep like a baby.

Daddy and Aunt Sally ventured towards the wine-tasting counter while Mummy and Nicole looked on.


After the two wine connoisseurs had selected their wines, we made our way outside for lunch, alfresco style. Great weather - sunny but not hot and humid.

Most of us ordered lamb - tender and succulent. All the delectable food and wine served here are organic, estate-grown. As the grown-ups indulged in their food and wine, lil' Nicole was sound asleep... probably from all the excitement earlier.

Joining us were Uncle Chester and Auntie Eve. After lunch, we proceeded on to the next 2 wineries.

Soon, it's time to head back towards town - another 5 hrs of journey. We had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during this road trip.... Great weather, great food, great wine and mostly, great company... What more can we ask for??!!! :)

Nicole's First Trip (Perth) - Part 1

Today, I'm going Perth with my parents.

I was all bleary-eyed when I was rudely awakened at 5.30am.

We needed to be at the airport by 7am.

I woke up when we reached the airport. By then, I was fully awake and in high spirits.

See how happy and excited I look! Can't wait for the adventure to begin.

Aunt Jayce's cute long-sleeved romper comes in handy for the cool weather there. Fits me perfectly. Thanks, Aunt Jayce!!!

As the plane took off, Mummy nursed me to relieve the tension in my ears. Other than the pooing incident, I was a well-behaved baby throughout the 4hr flight.

We reached Perth around 2pm. Aunt Sally picked us up from the airport. Look! She had also rented a baby car-seat for me. That's Aunt Sally for you - so sweet and thoughtful ;) I love her to bits!!!

After unpacking (pss... my stuff alone took up nearly one big luggage!), we went up to Kings Park to soak in the beautiful scenery and catch Perth's sunset.

The weather was great! This serene hilltop expanse was traditionally home to Perth's Noongar indigenous people.

With its bushwalks, wildflower-strewn botanic gardens, picnic areas and public barbecue sites, the park is a favourite backyard for locals.

Walking down the avenue with a lot of tall heritage listed trees. Each tree was planted in memory of a fallen soldier in WWI or WWII.

After all that walking, we went to a nice restaurant for dinner. The food looked and tasted fabulous... but in my opinion, milk is still the bestest!!

Just recently, I went to a studio to have my pics taken. Initially, I was there just for my ID pics (for the passport bit as I will be going to Perth with my parents. Yippee!!) However, Mummy couldn't resist taking up the 'Family Package' just so that she can document my growth.
